They are a must have when installing hinges, strike plates and anything that requires that you drill a hole directly in the center of the countersunk hole of the item you are attaching. It's another step but if you want all your screws to fit flush like a professional, then get these bits. You can on occasion hit the mark freehand but with these bits they'll be spot on all the time. Nothing says amateur more than a skewed screw in a hinge or lockset.
