I use this attachment with Makita HR4041C 1-9/16-Inch Rotary Hammer Spline help me dig out bushes and break up sold that was compacted by a concrete slap and it easily cut the time in 1/2 with far less effort.My soil is hard clay and it has been always challenging to dig properly sized holes for trees and larger shrubs and this tool makes it easy to do the job right.

Where it has really shined is digging out shrubs for moving as using getting close to the shrub base is a challenge with a shovel or pick.

Now how does this compare to other spade pits.As I looked a spade bits, I really couldn't see any differences on the shelves of stores.What I will say is this bit is actually very sharp and Amazon actually wraps the end in bubble wrap for protection. And after using it extensively, it has held up very well.
