Average Reviews:
(More customer reviews)I used this bit in my router table to make some rather large drawers for my kitchen pantry out of 3/4 stain-grade pine. It took a little bit of practice on some scrap pieces of stock to get it right, but nothing too difficult. The front and back of the drawer is routed with the stock flat on face, the sides are routed standing on edge. Once you get the bit height set you use the same setting for both. The only thing you adjust between the two is the fence depth. The advantage over a rabbet joint is the "locking" fit of the joint, being quite strong front to back. I did not use any mechanical fasteners, just Titebond wood glue. Not as pretty as a dovetail, but quite strong and professional looking. This bit being 2" diameter is quite large and is made that way so you can rout the drawer front in a lipped configuration. I did not use it that way since I made face panels for drawer fronts to create the lip to cover the gap between the face frame and the drawer. That being said I could have gotten by using a smaller diameter bit. I bought this bit however, because I may route lipped drawer fronts in the future and a won't have to buy another bit. This is a quality router bit that leaves a smooth cut behind. With a little practice you will be making some nice boxes in no time.
